pATL Atlanta claimed a big win in the Central Conference finishing first overall in St.Louis at the Padel Club League (PCL) over the weekend.
pATL Atlanta had a record of 11-1 in matches, 22 sets won in all their conference matches. The next closest club – who lost to pATL Atlanta 4-0, was Toronto’s The Pad.
pATL Atlanta captain Andrew Herring said they didn’t know what to expect given how new all the clubs and cities in the PCL are.
“We were thrilled to be there competing. The weekend was great as we had guys who hadn’t been a lot together and just hanging out. It was a really fun experience to put padel in more of a team setting,“ Herring said. “It was definitely a great feeling to win.”
Looking ahead to the America’s Cup Herring is taking a wait-and-see approach but knows pATL Atlanta have the capabilities to compete
“We are excited about the America’s Cup Final, but are going in with fair expectations. It’ll become a lot clearer where we stack up once the field is more set,” he said. “We have a lot of guys who are super talented and newer to the sport relative to some of the other teams. Which means an extra couple of months for preparation will be really valuable.”
The PCL competition is heating up with the two Miami conferences – Miami 1 and Miami 2 – halfway through their season. Conference winners will be determined by early December. The West Conference will be playing Dec.7 and Dec.8. And the America’s Cup final will be played Jan 17 – 19 in Sarasota, FL.
