Tempos’ captain Jerry Hazel said the competition was tough but winning the conference
was a special moment.
“That was the main goal. There were a lot of good Padel matches. We popped
champagne right afterwards,” Hazel said. “The way we won too, the team from
Woodlands was a strong team. Everyone is super excited about going to Florida and
getting that experience.”
Looking ahead to the America's Cup, Hazel said he's confident they can compete.
“We know there’s going to be a lot more tougher matches in Florida because of the
difference in skill, but none of us are afraid of a good Padel match," he said. "The goal is to go over there and come back with a trophy. We know it’s going to be harder, but
we’re not afraid.”
In the NorthEast Conference Sports Haus went 15-1 and earned 75 points. The next
best team was Padel Haus on 39 points going 7-9 (for the full standings click here).
In their encounter for top spot, Sports Haus' Chris Humphreys and Felipe Osses won 6-
3, 6-4 in the first match. Then Fausto Baraldi and Mark Parsons won 4-6, 7-5, 10-5,
followed by a 7-6, 6-3 win from Faycal Rhazali and Juan Arraya. In their final match
against Padel Haus, Alvaro Cruz Chamorro and Enrique won 6-7, 6-3, 10-8.
"We are excited about winning our conference and being able to compete at the America's Cup stage in January," said Juan Arraya, Co-founder of Sports Haus and captain of the PCL team. “We have a solid team and will be interesting to see how well we can do at the national level against all the other conference club champions.”
