Former world no.1 doubles champion Jared Palmer talks about the transition from tennis to padel

Jared Palmer didn't win RedPADEL Circuit no.2 Atlanta, but the former Wimbledon champion came close, claiming third place with partner Nalle Grinda, co-founder of Padel X.

RedPADEL caught up with Palmer who spoke about the transition from a world-class tennis background to padel and how he's progressing in the sport.

"There are a lot of similarities to tennis. Obviously it's doubles and it’s a lot of moving together as a team and trying to figure out how to close the holes in the right way and position yourselves at the net. And when I played tennis, my volley was a good shot and I feel like I’m competent in that but there’s still a lot of little things that take a while to get – when to hit it hard, when not to and when to take pace off.
"You know, within any point you might hit a ball at 15 different speeds. So there’s a lot of variety and that’s the one thing I think we all like about it. There’s a lot of different ways to win a point. And so it's been a fun process to try and figure out and I still feel like I’m getting better like a lot of former tennis players do, so it makes it fun.”
